THE NEXT RIGHT THING

Directed by Dionna McMillian

Born and raised in Ohio,Dionna McMillian is a bi-racial comedy and dramedy director who loves telling stories about underrepresented voices and class structure. She went to school at Alabama State University where she also has family and hence considers it a 2nd home.


She also teaches editing and has taught in India, China, and Qutar – she lived in NY before recently moving to LA. She has won countless awards for her short films which have been featured through Issa Rae and Lil’ Rel.


Dionna directed the digital series pilot "The Next Right Thing"– which played at several film festivals including Indie Memphis. Additionally, she directed the first season of a digital comedy series for Steve Harvey Productions. Dionna is currently on the film festival circuit with her short film, "Such A Deal" which played at ABFF’s inaugural comedy festival. Currently, she teaches at Dodge College of Chapman University and works as a freelance director. When she is not in the classroom or on set you can find her on a tennis court struggling to gain a USTA rating of 3.5.
