Tonight’s Movie: WAYNE'S WORLD directed by Penelope Spheeris.
8:30pm.
Spheeris is often referred to as a 'rock 'n roll anthropologist'. In 1992, Spheeris directed her seventh feature, and first studio film, "Wayne's World" at Paramount Pictures. Spheeris's first mega-hit came with Wayne's World, based on the nonsensical but nonetheless popular Saturday Night Live skit featuring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey as self-proclaimed "party dudes" who have their own cable TV show. Subsequently she directed and produced "The Beverly Hillbillies" (Fox), wrote and directed "The Little Rascals" (Universal), then directed "Black Sheep" (Paramount), etc. For now, Spheeris is working on her own projects: a documentary about her carnival-traveling parents, and Decline Part IV.
