She was born and raised in Manhattan. 'Bodega' is her first short film, which she wrote and directed. Loosely based on Rebecca’s personal experiences, ‘Bodega’ reflects the influence of her time abroad as well as her identity as a lifelong New Yorker. The film gives a comical and human face to Muslim immigrants that defies stereotype, while offering a rare honest portrayal of teen girls as empowered, funny, and flawed.
